The Legacy of Beethoven: The Kreutzer Project! The innovative chamber orchestra, The Knights! A variety of works inspired by *Kreutzer*! Beethoven’s “Violin Sonata No. 9,” commonly known as *Kreutzer* inspired Russian novelist Tolstoy to write *The Kreutzer Sonata*, and Janáček, in turn inspired by *The Kreutzer Sonata*, composed his “String Quartet No. 1, *The Kreutzer Sonata*.” The “Kreutzer Project” brings together these works along with a piece by Anna Klein, titled after Tolstoy’s quote: “Music is the shorthand of emotion.” Produced under the banner of “Kreutzer,” this album features new arrangements of works by Beethoven and Janáček that offer a fresh and invigorating listening experience. The Knights is a chamber orchestra founded by brothers Eric Jacobsen and Colin Jacobsen. Aiming to break down the barriers between the audience and the music, they perform not only in concert halls but also in parks, plazas, and bars. In addition to performing with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Gil Shaham, and Yuja Wang, they also collaborate with artists and performers from a wide range of genres, not limited to classical music.
