Description:
The third album "CLOSE TO THE EDGE - Crisis" was released less than a year after "9 SHOCKS TERROR". I would like to declare that this album is another masterpiece filled with masterpieces that represent LIP CREAM. The amazing thing about the band LIP CREAM is that each new release surpasses the previous one. Therefore, I can only conclude that every new release is a masterpiece. According to JHAJHA's testimony, MINORU was strongly influenced by Go Nagai's manga from an ideological standpoint at the time, and the band's works such as "Devil Man," "The Devil King Dante," and "Gakuen Boring Man" are among his most influential works. The idea was to fuse the doomsday-type ideas and worldviews contained in such works as "Devil Man," "The Devil King Dante," and "Gakuen Boredom Man" with LIP CREAM's musical style. The cover artwork, with its "giant octopus swallowing the earth whole" and outer space-inspired color scheme, was all the brainchild of MINORU, and the airbrush artwork, which was rare at the time, was created by illustrator KOHNO SHINJI. The title logo, LIP CREAM's handwritten logo, the overall layout arrangement, and the design of the label side continue to be handled by JHAJHA. Recording took place at Shinjuku JAM Studio on December 21, 22, and 23, 1987 and January 10, 1988. The intensity of the music and JHAJHA's unique choice of words and lyrics create a strong sense of tension. Of course, the lyric card comes with an English translation. However, we hope that listeners from English-speaking countries will also join in the chorus and pump their fists in the air at the Japanese phrases. It is meaningful to appeal to them in Japanese.
