Description:

The complete Beethoven cycle by Schuricht and the Paris Conservatory0 was recorded at once between 1957 and 1958. At this time, record companies were just beginning to shift from monaural recordings to stereo recordings. Under such circumstances, the Beethoven cycle was recorded in monaural and released one work at a time. Later, in the 1970s, a stereo master tape of only the "Ninth" was discovered, and its overseas LP was first released on EMI's low-priced "Classics for Pleasure" series, followed by Toshiba EMI's own 4-sided cutting in Japan (2-sided cutting for the overseas release). In Japan, Toshiba EMI cut the LPs on four sides (two sides for the overseas LPs) and released them.On the other hand, a stereo version of the CD was also released in Japan, but for some reason, the import CDs of the highly acclaimed complete works box set were also released in monaural format, and until this release by Testament, they had never seen the light of day. Thus, Testament has successfully restored the master tapes, which had been "sealed" overseas for many years, using their advanced re-mastering techniques. The masterpiece, which is the fruit of the fragrant sound of the French orchestras of yesteryear and Schuricht's orthodox approach, is now available in a new light. The recording was made at "Salle Wagram," the home of EMI (EMI / PATHE-MARCONI) recordings in Paris since the 1950s. In addition to the famous singing by Callas, this recording is known for its many masterpieces by 20th century giants such as François, Karajan, and Bernstein. It is still fresh in our memories that our own Yutaka Sado, who is related to Bernstein, recorded "Bernstein: Works" [WPCS-11662] with the Concert Lamoureux Orchestra, which is based in the same hall, in 2001. It is one of the most important halls in the history of classical music, and the rich sound of this recording is well worth listening to. Naturally, this is the first international release on CD! Please come and hear for yourself the true value of this very talked-about disc!
