Contemporary Choral Music Featured Composer Kim André ArnesenThe thoughts of people speaking to a world scarred by unprecedented social change reverberate through the space of a cathedral! This is a new album by one of the most performed contemporary choral music composers, Norway's Kim Andre Arnesen. Kim Andre Arnesen Kim Andre Arnesen studied at the Department of Music at the Norwegian University of Technology and Natural Sciences (NTNU) in Trondheim, where he established his reputation and popularity as a choral music writer. His works have already been sung in more than 50 countries, and his major works such as "Requiem" and "Mass for the Holy Spirit" have been premiered in New York and Washington. The work with the Aramaic title "Tuvayhun" was commissioned by the Manhattan Girls Choir and Artistic Director Michelle Oesterle and composed in 2018.It was composed around the themes of "a world scarred by environmental crisis, mass migration, global pandemics, political polarization, rising income inequality, the rise of authoritarian regimes, and unprecedented social change," and "nevertheless, the world is beautiful when one looks closely," and subtitled "Beautiitudes for a Wounded World ( It was subtitled "Beautiitudes for a Wounded World. It is based on the eight "Beatitudes" of the Sermon on the Mount (chapter 5) in the Gospel of Matthew and the lyrics written by the American poet Charles Anthony Silvestri (1965-), which illustrate how each Beatitude applies to the real world The following eight songs, "I Am Poor," "Blessing: My Hope," in which the girls in the choir recite their own prayers in various languages, and "The Gospel of Matthew (chapter 5, verse 14)," "The Gospel of John (chapter 12, verse 36)," and "Philippians (chapter 2, verse 15)" are used as texts for the songs. The text consists of "Ye are the light of the world.The music will be performed by a girls' chorus, vocal soloists, string orchestra and instrumentalists. a jazz singer and songwriter who studied at NTNU, and vocal soloist Mohannmed Al-Majzoub, a native of Syria who studied in Bergen and sings with the group Sharqant, which performs Arab and Sufi music in a classical style.
