A Collection of Chopin’s Masterpieces for Cello, Dedicated to the Anniversary by Denmark’s “Prince of the Cello” First Prize at the 2006 Eurovision Young Musicians Competition, First Place at the 2007 Paulo International Cello Competition, and Danish Broadcasting Corporation’s “Artist in Residence, 2007” Winner of the 2008 Bolletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, a recent member of the BBC New Generation Scheme, and nominated for the “Rising Star” scheme of the European Concert Hall Association (2008–2009)—Brantelid (b. 1987), a Danish musician whose international reputation is on the rise, releases his second album, a collection of works by Chopin to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth. Composed with the cello—an instrument Chopin felt as close to him as the piano—and with the collaboration of his friend, the cellist Franchom, these works are a collection of masterpieces cherished as an essential part of the cello repertoire. Armenian-born Sirinian studied under Matthias Weber, Thomas Brandis, Maria Egerhoff, and Konrad Erselm, and is currently active as a soloist and chamber musician. Frang, a Norwegian violinist who has garnered attention as Mutter’s protégé, received favorable reviews in Japan for his debut album, “Sibelius: Violin Concerto and Other Works.” This collection of Chopin’s chamber music, performed by a new generation of rising stars in Europe, is brimming with fresh charm.
