Description:
The FBO's superbly elegant collection of Mozart's early symphonies, Mozart's young symphonies, performed by the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, one of the greatest orchestras of ancient music. Symphony No. 1 was written in 1764, when Mozart was eight years old. Although it is said to be a study, it is a work that reminds us of the "child prodigy" Mozart. The other works also show what Mozart was like as a child, and the seeds of many of the masterpieces he would go on to write. The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra plays them with great vigor and elegance. The contredanses inserted between the symphonies are Mozart's last dances, which are said to have been composed in 1791. The first piece is a joyful dance based on the melody of the famous aria "No more flying" from "The Marriage of Figaro. The FBO's members are well versed in Mozart's works, from symphonies to operas, and their performance of No. 3, a military-style piece with lively drumbeats, is a masterpiece of pleasure.
