Many of her albums—including several making their CD debut—have been meticulously remastered from the original master tapes, capturing her truly brilliant pianistic talent in its purest form with the highest sound quality. *Christina Ortiz* Born in 1950 in the state of Bahia, Brazil, Christina Ortiz was a rare child prodigy who began playing the piano at just two years old and entered the Brazilian Conservatory of Music at age eight to begin her formal musical education. She later received a scholarship to study in Paris, where she studied under the renowned pianist Magda Taliarfero. She then went on to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she diligently honed her skills under the legendary pianist Rudolf Serkin. What brought her to the world’s attention was her gold medal win at the 3rd Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1969. This was a historic achievement, as she was the first woman ever to win the competition. Since then, as a soloist, she has performed one after another with the world’s leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. She has also delivered numerous acclaimed performances in perfect harmony with renowned conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy and André Previn. Her discography is extensive, with over 30 albums released on major labels including EMI, Decca, BIS, and Naxos. In addition to being highly acclaimed for his definitive recordings of works by Brazilian and Spanish composers such as Villa-Lobos, Falla, and Granados, he continues to captivate audiences with his vast repertoire, ranging from Romantic grand concertos to solo miniatures and chamber music. After many years based in London, he currently resides in France. He is also actively engaged as a dedicated educator, conducting master classes and workshops at prestigious international music institutions around the world, and devoting himself with deep passion to the development of young pianists.
