Description:
Schütz and his master flutists in 20th century flute music "Schütz is eloquent without losing his warm tone in any of his works. It is no exaggeration to say that through his hands, contemporary music, once thought to be difficult to understand, has become a beloved classical repertoire." Shigeki Saeki (from the CD booklet) Schütz, a principal player and soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic, has recorded masterpieces for the flute from the 20th century. Schütz, who has been highly acclaimed in various fields for his active performance of contemporary works, vividly depicts the masterpieces of our time with such distinguished performers as Canino and Aki Takahashi. <Born in Innsbruck, he studied at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory with Eva Amsler, at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon with Philippe Bernold, and in Switzerland with Aurèle Nicolet. She won the first prize at the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition (1998) and the Krakow International Flute Competition (1999). Since 2011, he has been the principal flutist of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. He also served as principal flute of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra from 2000 to 2004 and of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra from 2005 to 2011. He has performed as a soloist throughout Europe and Japan with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, and others. He has been invited by conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Fabio Luisi, Yakov Kreizberg, Dimitry Kitayenko, and Bertrand de Billy as soloist for their concerts. An avid chamber musician, he has been a member of various ensembles from baroque to contemporary music, and since 2013 he has succeeded Wolfgang Schulz as a member of the Ensemble Wien-Berlin and the Vienna Ring Ensemble. He teaches as professor of flute at the Conservatorium of Private Music in Vienna and as visiting professor at several other schools. In addition to giving master classes throughout Europe and in Japan (Kusatsu Academy), he is active as a recording artist, especially with Camerata Tokyo, and has released CDs of Mozart, Bach, Schubert, Prokofiev, Brahms, and others. He has released a CD "Concerto Grosso of the 20th Century" by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields conducted by Sir Neville Marriner on the Chandos label. He is the artistic director of Landek's "Horizonte. Camerata Tokyo
