This is Torvald Gustafsen’s first trio album in four years. Since releasing his debut album, *Changing Places*, on ECM in 2003, his uniquely European melodies, brimming with lyricism, have captivated many piano trio fans. This album, his fifth trio release on ECM, builds upon the characteristics and styles explored in his earlier works while introducing a broad flexibility and a sense of evolving interaction to the trio’s repertoire. Joining him on bass is the accomplished Norwegian bassist Steiner Laknes. He blends seamlessly between Torild’s sophisticated chordal explorations and Jarl Vesper’s delicate stick and brushwork, creating a sense of deep, understated support for his colleagues.
