Description:
Henry Squire was a cellist active in England from the late 1890s to the late 1920s. He left more than 200 recordings for British Columbia, among which Handel's "Largo" and Mali's "Golden Wedding" are well known in Japan. In fact, he himself composed many concert pieces when he was young, and these pieces are all in a familiar and easy style that makes extensive use of portamento (a technique in which two notes are smoothly connected to express emotion), which is one of his specialties.
