Description:
The world of "Cinderella" revived in the modern age! The world of "Cinderella" revived in the modern age! The opera "Sandrillon (Cinderella)" was composed by Massenet based on the script of the famous fairy tale by Perrault. The story is based on the famous fairy tale by Perrault, and Massenet composed the opera "Sandrillon (Cinderella)" based on the libretto by Perrault. The story is familiar with the mean stepmother and her sisters, the love with the prince at the ball, and the glass slipper, but the dramatic plot includes the love of the real father for Sandrillon and the encounter in the forest with the prince, which also captures the ironical and hedonistic atmosphere of the Belle Epoque period when it was created. This video is a recording of a new production for the 2019 Glyndebourne Festival, with Fiona Dunn's alterations to the original production by acclaimed actor Fiona Shaw. While the stage is set in the present day, with the characters fiddling with their phones and taking selfies, this, combined with the outlandish costumes, including the glittery jacket worn by the prince, creates a magical world as a modern fairy tale.Against the backdrop of Massenet's delicate and dense music, created under the baton of BBC Proms regular John Wilson, whose repertoire ranges from modern and contemporary music to jazz and pop, the lovely and strong Sandrillon (de Nice), the troubled and modern prince (Lindsay), and the magical coloratura of the goddaughter (Minassian), all perform and sing beautifully. The godfather fairy (Minasiyan), whose magical coloratura is impressive, performs and sings beautifully. Naxos Japan
