Description:
One of the best string quartets of our time, the Belcea (Belcea) Quartet from Romania, has been making a splash during their performances in Japan. The Alpha label has since released a new set of Beethoven string quartets. The Alpha label has since produced excellent recordings of the New Viennese School (Alpha 209) and Shostakovich (with Piotr Anderszewski, Alpha 360). Now he moves to the 20th century in Central and Eastern Europe, where he shows us a glimpse of new territory with two Janacek compositions and a Ligeti. The orchestra is well versed in Romantic works, and we are looking forward to hearing their interpretation of these unique and well-known works, which will give the works a fresh vein. Especially, "Metamorphosis of Night" was written in the 1950s, when Ligeti was still under the strong influence of Bartók and when composers from neighboring countries such as Prokofiev and Martinů were still alive. Placing it side by side with Janacek's two masterpieces from his later years will bring to light the unexpected conflict between traditional and progressive writing styles. Naxos Japan
