Description:

The Queen of Showbiz, Cher's 3rd & 4th albums are back in 2in1! The first half of this disc ([1]-[12]) is her third solo album "Cher" in its entirety. Although only one single, "Alfie/Shes No Better Than Me" (July 1966), was cut as a single in the U.S., in the U.K., it was voted No. 2 behind Dusty Springfield in the "Female Vocal Category" of the Record Mirror's popularity poll later that year. In the U.K., however, two albums, "I Feel Something In The Air (Magic In The Air)/Come To Your Window" (July 1966/U.K. #43) and "Sunny/Shes No Better Than Me" (September 1966/U.K. #32), were released independently. Produced by Sonny Bono, with Harold Batiste as arranger/musical director.Backed by familiar session musicians from the West Coast studio scene--Cliff Hills (b), Frankie Capp (ds), Lyle Ritz (b), Carol Kaye (g), Don Peake (g), Mac Rebennack ( g), David Cohen (12-string guitar), Mike Post (12-string guitar), Mike Rubini (harpsichord), Gene Estes (perc), Jim Gordon (perc), Jungle Gino (perc), Gabriel Meckler (p), George Pool (vln, fl ). The second half ([13]-[22]) is the entire fourth album, With Love. Bono's work [13][14][16]. The Jimi Hendrix version is an all-too-famous rock standard[15]. The original of Graham Gouldman's [17] was the debut single in 1966 by the British Manchester R&B band St. Louis Union. It was a musical number by Rodgers & Hart, and was also featured by Mamas & Papas on their third album, "To You, My Beloved" [18]. From Keith Allison's (Paul Revere & The Raiders) 1966 solo single [19]. It is also a well-known song covered by Joan Baez [20]. The last song is a regular Dylan number [22]. ~Excerpts from the commentary by Masaru Konishi
