Dahl, who was an RAF pilot during World War II and became famous for his novels based on his experiences, has since published a series of satirical and humorous novels, and his enigmatic punch lines have won him many readers in Japan. In the field of children's literature, he also published many masterpieces with sharp satire in the midst of fantasy, including "The Secret of the Chocolate Factory," which was later made into a movie.
