The first album by Illinois Speed Press, a psychedelic blues band formed by Paul Cotton, later of Poco, is now available on CD in paper jacket! (Original release: 1969/Columbia Records)Paul Cotton (g, vo), who was an important member of the American country rock band Poco for many years and sadly passed away in August of this year, played with Cal David (b/ later Fabulous Rhinestones) and others before he joined Poco. Produced by James William Garcio, the band debuted at the same time as Chicago Transit Authority (later Chicago), also produced by Garcio. Reflecting the contrasting styles of the two core members, the band's unique blend of psychedelic, heavy blues rock and country-rock elements is still distinctly the group's own, with the atmosphere of a chaotic era.
