Sebastián Macki is a composer, pianist, and singer-songwriter who represents the next generation of Argentina’s neo-folklore scene and is dedicated to pursuing his own musical vision. His first album in four years is an ambitious work that expresses his signature colorful compositions—featuring fresh lyricism rooted in the music of the Paraná River and songs expressing his concerns about the modern world—through the organic ensemble of his five-piece band, “Colectivo Baldio.” Released exclusively on vinyl in Japan. Sebastián Macki has released a small but significant body of work—including the “Luz de Agua” two-part series, which has left its mark on the history of contemporary Argentine neo-folklore; the trio album *Agua Sirabas* with Carlos Aguirre and Gonzalo Díaz, and his solo album *Melodia Baldia*—Sebastián Macki, who has released few but deeply cherished works for many listeners, has now released *Gritaenmi* (Inner Cry), an album created with his own band. While retaining the charm of the songs—which showcase the neo-folklore tradition that has flowed through his previous works and the unique sensibility that is Sebastian’s hallmark—this album is characterized by an organic ensemble sound that incorporates influences from classic Argentine rock artists such as Spinetta, Charlie García, and Fito Paes. Each track—ranging from the poetic beauty of the Paraná River and the feelings of those left behind as they trace a traveler’s footsteps, a child’s gaze and the sensibilities of childhood, to expressions of opposition to global environmental destruction and a world where everything is digitized—each track possesses a certain contrast and duality.
