A traditional Viennese sound passed down through two generations! Ernst Ottensamer, currently the principal clarinetist of the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, has two sons who have also chosen the path of music and, like their father, studied the clarinet and have grown as musicians. The eldest son, Daniel, joined the Vienna Philharmonic in 2009, making it possible for two generations of the family to perform together in this prestigious orchestra. The younger son, Andreas, has also demonstrated exceptional talent as a pianist, having won several competitions, and is currently honing his skills at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Professor Hindler. Both have studied the Viennese style of clarinet playing, and there is no doubt that they are young hopefuls who will carry the traditional sound of their masterful father into the next generation. This album captures the joy that Ernst, the father, feels when performing with his sons, and the ensemble’s performance, which conveys a warm, family-like atmosphere, is a must-listen.
