Description:
Never has there been an Otello with so much emotion! Jonas Kaufmann, "the greatest Otello of our time," together with master singer Antonio Pappano and a full complement of singers, reproduces Verdi's music with the perfection that only a session recording could achieve. The leading role in Verdi's second-to-last opera "Otello" is not only the most difficult role for a tenor in Verdi's operas, requiring rich expressiveness, a strong voice, and a wide vocal range from baritone to tenor, but is even called "the Everest of all opera tenor roles. This is not only the most difficult role among the tenors in Verdi's operas, it is also the most difficult. There are only a few tenors who can sing this difficult role, and Jonas Kaufmann is one of them, making his role debut in 2017 in a production newly directed by Keith Warner at the Royal Opera House, where he received an overwhelming ovation from the full house and was praised by the audience as "Kaufmann's confident voice, which is ageing well. confident singing voice. "Kaufman's voice, confident with age, evokes Ramon Vinay and John Vickers, who were famous as Otello singers" (New York Times), "He is without doubt the most brilliantly vocal and physically charismatic singer of the role since Domingo" (Daily Mail), "Jonas Kaufman has made history as an 'Otello singer'" (The New York Times), "He is a man of great talent, a man of great talent, a man of great talent, and a man of great talent. Jonas Kaufmann has made his mark on history as the 'Otello singer'" (OperaWire), etc. (A video of the historic performance is also available on Blu-ray and DVD from Sony Classical.)For Kaufman, "Otello" is one of the crowning glories of his career as a singer, having performed Cassio in a 2001 production of "Otello" at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, recording his first two arias from "Otello" on the 2013 "Verdi Album," and then taking on new roles with great success at the Royal Opera House in 2017, all while patiently waiting for his voice and expression to mature. This is one of Kaufman's crowning achievements, as he has patiently waited for his voice and expressive abilities to mature and continue to take on new roles. In order to achieve the best possible conditions for his recording of "Otello," Kaufman will be joined in Rome in the summer of 2019 for a two-week session by master conductor Antonio Pappano, who has performed and recorded with Kaufman on stage many times, and his hand-picked Orchestra & Choir of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, The orchestra and choir of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, who have performed and recorded Verdi's difficult music together on stage many times. The perfect lineup of performers includes Carlos Alvarez, a veteran singer with rich expressive power, as Iago, and Federica Lombardi, a young lyric soprano who is gaining worldwide popularity as a Mozart singer, as Desdemona.Kaufmann's eloquent phrasing and dynamics, his breathless lyrical cantilenas and dramatic spintos, not only allow us to appreciate his astonishingly diverse range of technique and expressive power as an opera singer, but also to hear Verdi in his final years under the baton of Pappano, who has brought his compositional skills to bear on this exceptional masterpiece. Pappano's direction, Verdi's masterpieces are reproduced in real sound. Sony Music
