Description:

Triptykon with the Metropole Orkest Requiem (Live At Roadburn 2019), a historic live work that captures the moment Requiem was released from its 30-year spell of captivity. After having played with Swiss metal bands HELLHAMMER and CELTIC FROST, Tom Gabriel Warrior arrived at his final destination, TRIPTYKON, in 2008. He has so far left behind two overwhelming works, "Eparistera Daimones" (2010) and "Melana Chasmata" (2014). Requiem (Live At Roadburn 2019)" captures the moment when Tom's 30-year obsession with "Requiem" came to an end. The album includes a rare performance with a full orchestra on the main stage of the Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands on Friday, April 12, 2019. Unraveling the 46-minute requiem in three chapters, "Rex Irae" is the first piece written when Tom was 22 years old and was included in the CELTIC FROST-era "Into the Pandemonium" (1987).Later, there was a move to turn the trilogy into a work, but it was never completed due to problems with the label. As time went by, "Winter" was written in 2002, when Tom turned 38 years old. It can be heard in CELTIC FROST's work "Monotheist" (2006). The middle section, "Grave Eternal," which forms the core of the current work, is the final requiem, the culmination of a work completed at the age of 54. To realize the grand vision of performing this trilogy, the renowned Dutch Metropole Orchestra and Safa Heraghi, a Tunisian female singer who has participated in the works of DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT and DARK FORTRESS, were invited to join the project. In addition, Florian Magnus Maier, known as the vocalist of DARK FORTRESS, arranged the orchestral parts. This is the first time in history that the three songs on the album have been performed live. The tension in the venue and the endless applause and cheers after the show were proof that this was a historic moment.
