New Album by Greek Composer Eleni KalaindrouxThis new album by Greek composer Eleni Kalaindroux, released by ECM, includes the play "Tous des oiseaux" by Lebanese-born Canadian playwright Wajdi Mouawad and a film by Iranian actor and director Peyman Moaadi for the film Bomb, A Love Story. Tous des oiseaux, a bold exploration of complex cultural identities set against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, premiered to great acclaim at the Théâtre National de Colline in Paris on November 17, 2017, with a return production beginning in Paris on December 5, 2018. Calaindroux says the play has allowed him to break new ground and raise awareness. Meanwhile, "Bomb, A Love Story" is Eleni's first film music work since the death of Theo Angelopoulos; the film was released in Tehran on February 3, 2018 and has been nominated for the Best Screenplay at the Asia-Pacific Film Awards.Both works were composed for string orchestra and Kalaindlou's fellow talented soloists. 30 years after the 1990 recording of Music for Films, Kalaindlou's brilliant themes and arrangements have taken on new forms and connections thanks to the mixing and editing by producer The mixing and editing by Manfred Eicher has given them new forms and connections.
