Alan Sparhawk (Lowe)'s second album, a follow-up to his previous album born of grief, is now complete. With Trampled by Turtles," produced with Minnesota folk band Trampled by Turtles and released on Sub Pop. Sub Pop Records releases With Trampled by Turtles, Low's Alan Sparhawk's second solo effort. With Trampled by Turtles is, as the name implies, a collective, collaborative, fraternal, and empathetic record, recorded with the help of Sparhawk's longtime friends and fellow Minnesotans Trampled by Turtles. With Trampled by Turtles was recorded at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, in late 2023, and Alan Sparhawk arrived at the end of a session with Trampled by Turtles with several songs in the creative process. The band was in the middle of a session with Trampled by Turtles.Some of these songs had never been worked on as Low, while others were fresh and awaiting completion in the right setting. For years the two had talked about working on something together, but it was never more than a verbal commitment. But when Sparhawk needed production with them the most, the promise reappeared, more immediately than ever. Says Sparhawk, "When you see an opportunity, you jump on it." With Trampled by Turtles was released in 2024 and has appeared in The Guardian, Stereogum, Pitchfork, Clash, MOJO, Uncut, The Line of Best Fit, Under The Radar, Brooklyn It follows Sparhawk's solo debut, White Roses, My God, which received accolades from media outlets such as Vegan and The New York Times.
