Barne Whelan's smash hit "French Ballads" newly remastered from analog 24-track masters by the original sound engineer, Hervé Le Guil! The CD and LP release includes 4 bonus tracks that were previously unreleased and unrecorded on the original release. Remastered from the original 24-track analog masters by the original sound engineer Hervé Le Guil, Barne Whelan was born in Nice, France in 1937, and rose to fame in 1957 when he collaborated with Miles Davis on the soundtrack to "Elevator to the Gallows". In the late 1980s, he released "La note bleue" on the IDA label, this album "French In the late 1980s, he made a comeback to the forefront with the so-called "IDA Trilogy," which included "La note bleue," "French Ballads," and "Wild dogs of the Ruwenzori," all released on the IDA label, and garnered much attention. This is a collection of jazz arrangements of chansons and other songs of French origin.Because the playing style and phrasing were full of song, and many of the songs were familiar to the ear in relation to famous movies, the release was another success, even though it was only three months after "La note bleue". Its repertoire and approach make it an extremely unique work in the long history of jazz. Includes special essays by jazz writers Ashley Kahn and Philip Vincent, bassist Riccardo Del Fra, drummer Sangoma Everett, and associate producer Patrick Willen. 20-page booklet enclosed with CD version.
