Mette Juul was born in 1975 in Huansul, Denmark. She has been a singer and songwriter since her youth, and in 2007 won first prize in the International Jazz Artists Competition in Tallinn, Estonia. 2010 saw the release of her debut album, "Coming from the Dark". The album was recorded in a session with legendary Danish drummer Aleks Rihl, bassist Jesper Longo, pianist Heine Hansen, trumpeter Pare Mikelborg, and guitarist Paul Hallberg as guests. Records release "Celeste" is her sixth solo album. Celeste, released by Prophone Records, is her sixth solo album, recorded with Swedish bassist Lars Danielsson and American guitarist Mike Moreno. I discovered the world of vocal jazz when I was young. Many of the melodies and lyrics of jazz standards made a strong impression on me and still speak to me today.This trip with Mike Moreno and Lars Danielsson is something I have wanted to make happen for many years. By performing with them, I may discover new ways of singing and playing these songs. ...... The resulting album features not only jazz standards, but also original numbers and new songs such as "Distance" by Glauco Venier and Norma Winston.
