The film is a live performance of the Rossini Opera Festival. This video is of "Ricciardo and Zoraide" directed by the brilliant Marshall Pinkoski. This rarely performed work can be enjoyed with a splendid cast including Juan Diego Flores, known as the greatest Rossini tenor of all time, and Pretty Yende, an up-and-coming soprano from South Africa who is currently performing at the Metropolitan Opera. This production depicts the love between Ricciardo, a crusader knight, and Zoraide, a princess of a small country. King Agorante of Nubia imprisons Zoraide in his castle in order to make her his own. Her lover, Ricciardo, who tries to rescue Zoraide, is captured. He is sentenced to death, but in the nick of time, the Crusaders conquer Nubia. Ricciardo forgives Agorante and is happily married to Zoraide. The difficulty of this work is that it has two main characters, Ricciardo and Zoraide, and also requires great skill from the supporting cast.But this time, in addition to the wonderful singers Flores and Yende, the supporting singers are also noteworthy for their abilities. In particular, Agorante, played by Russian tenor Sergei Romanovsky. And another tenor, Xavier Anduaga as Ernesto. His beautiful voice is as elongated as Flores'. King International
