Shorty's "Falstaff"! The Decca sound of the time is vividly reissued! Scholte's "Falstaff" still shines brilliantly as a masterpiece! Scholte's overwhelming interpretation is vividly restored with the beauty of the Decca sound of the time! Although "Falstaff" is the last opera by Verdi, there are not many recordings of it compared to the popular "La Traviata", and even from 1950 to 2000, there were relatively few recordings of this work. This is a 1963 recording by Scholte, who has remained brilliant even today (released at that time under the name "RCA Italian Opera Orchestra & Chorus"). The great Hungarian conductor also recorded "Falstaff" in the 1990s, but the singers are not as magnificent as in 1963, and the old recording is superior in its overwhelming interpretation. The Decca sound of the time is excellent and vividly conveys Scholte's accurate interpretation. Tokyo M-Plus
