This year's theme is "Mediterranean"! The diverse music that shapes its world! The theme of this year's annual year-end CD book is "Mediterranean Sea. As the ancient Greek vase painting on the cover suggests, its contents cover a very wide range of space and time. The Mediterranean Sea, also known as the mother of peoples and cultures, was the medium that linked the coasts of various peoples from time immemorial and promoted cultural exchange among them. From ancient times to the Middle Ages, it was a world that formed a unique cultural zone before the rise of Islam divided it into two regions, North Africa and Asia Minor and Southern Europe. During that period, around the time of the Roman conquest of Carthage, the Mediterranean Sea came to be known as "Our Sea (Mare Nostrum). Many people are familiar with this Mediterranean world through the writings of Braudel and Nansei Shiono, but the focus tends to be on politics and other topics.Culture extends to architecture and sculpture, and there are probably few opportunities to become familiar with music in a balanced way. Savard has traveled through time and space through music, starting from the starting point of ancient music, with the background of the land and culture where he grew up. With his performance, we can explore this wide Mediterranean world through our ears in a well-balanced way. The abundance of illustrations will also help you in your exploration. King International
