Live recording of the dense "Home Symphony" in which Zubin Mehta conducted the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra at the new Isarphilharmonie hall in Munich in November 2021!The Isarphilharmonie, a new hall in Munich, opened in October 2021. The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra will use this new hall as its new home during the renovation of its 35-year home in Gasteich, and Yasuhisa Toyoda, who has designed the acoustics of many of the world's most famous halls, will conduct the live recording of R. Strauss' "Home Symphony," which was first performed in Carnegie Hall in March 1904 under the composer's own baton. The performance was a success. Strauss was immersed in self-satisfaction: "The performance was a success, it sounds wonderful, but it is very difficult. This piece, a monumental symphonic poem about the composer's personal life, requires a very high level of technique and expression. The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, with honorary conductor Zubin Mehta, performed this sumptuous late Romantic work at the Isar Philharmonie in Munich. Strauss is increasingly performed with the smart and delicate expression of Zinman and others, but under Mehta's baton Strauss's melodious nature came into its own! Rich strings, sensuous horns, and a feast of many beautiful wind solos emanate a dark golden tradition of sound, creating a dense music.Effectively creating dazzling transparent sound reduction in the most delicate passages with the necessary transparency for the scene, Mehta handles the complex score with confidence. The recording was done by Ephraim Hahn, a young engineer with an established reputation for surround sound recording, including Dolby Atmos. Mastering is by Christoph Stickel, an engineer who has worked on various Keith Jarrett productions, with new mastering under the supervision of ECM, providing a brilliant insight into the sonic nuances possible in this hall.
