Svanholm Singers

Description:

The Svanholm Singers, Sweden's leading male voice choir, celebrates its 20th anniversary! Svanholm Singers was founded in 1998 by Eva Bohlin, son of tenor Seth Svanholm, in the university town of Lund. Since 2001, Sofia Soderberg (Söderberg Eberhard) (1972-) has been the conductor of the choir, which has given concerts in Japan and toured abroad, and together with Orphey Drengal (OD) of Uppsala, has become one of Sweden's leading male voice choirs in Sweden and the world. The seventh album, Exclusive, was recorded on the occasion of the Singers' 20th anniversary in 2018. Söderberg composed "Intro to the Baths" for the reopening event of the renovated baths in the city of Lund. Two Swedish folk songs, "Amazing Grace" and "Red Dragonfly," are arranged by Söderberg.Commissioned by the World Symposium on Choral Music in Copenhagen, Peter Bruun of Denmark composed "Peace" based on Gerard Manley Hopkins' "Peace" and Wilfred Owen's "The Next War". Peace" was composed with texts from Gerard Manley Hopkins' "Peace" and Wilfred Owen's "The Next War". Here Now It's So Calm" for a composition competition organized by the Singers, written by Christian Engquist of Sweden, who wrote the poem based on his personal experiences. Singers tenor Emil Fredberg's "Closer to Home," based on Eleanor Roosevelt's "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" speech. Henrik Dahlgren of the Singers composed "From Son to Mother" on a poem by Maya Angelou, commissioned by the group for the 70th anniversary concert of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Norwegian Newstedt Knut Nystedt dedicates "Salve Regina" to the Svanholm Singers and its founder Eva Boleyn. The "This World is Uruwashi" is a major expansion of the Scandinavian Christmas song by B. S. Ingemann, to which several verses have been added. The program is composed of "snapshots" of songs "exclusively" sung by the Singers, who are known for their unique personalities and charismatic style. Tokyo M-Plus
