The BIS label is proud to announce the recording of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 by trombonist and conductor Christian Lindberg! Lindberg has been focusing on his conducting activities in recent years, and this new recording is a masterpiece of Lindberg's work. Lindberg is a trombonist, and his brass is crisp and his orchestration is gorgeous. The Arctic Philharmonic's superb ensemble ability is also impressive. The coupling ballet suite "Swan Lake" is also superb! Each part is performed with refined beauty.Of particular note is Act II, No. 13, "Scenes," in which the violin soloist Mikhail Simonian, an accomplished violinist, takes the violin solo. Born in Novosibirsk, Simonian is one of the most promising young violinists in the world today. He has performed as a soloist with the world's major orchestras and has received high acclaim for his performances in Japan. His calm, hard-edged playing with a spacious upper register tone is very appealing. The addition of the talented violinist's solo in this recording makes the performance even more wonderful.
