Grief Opera brings the power of music to grief and helps people understand that love endures. Nigel Linaker began writing the lyrics for Grief Opera after the death of his son, George Linaker, by suicide in late 2021. Jazz bandleader Vladimir Miller, who had previously lost a band member to suicide, joined him to compose music influenced by jazz, world music, and contemporary classical music, using some of George's bass rhythms as a starting point.
