The Moragues Woodwind Quintet was formed in 1980 by the three Moragues brothers, Michel, Pascal and Pierre, and has continued to perform internationally as one of France's leading woodwind ensembles. The Moragues Woodwind Quintet has been active internationally, and this collection of Poulenc's chamber works recorded in 2006 has been reissued by the French label Indesens, which has released a series of high-quality recordings of wind instruments. The Moragues Woodwind Quintet, a super ensemble whose members are all graduates of the prestigious Paris Conservatory, and all of whom are active in France's top orchestras, including Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre de l'Opera de Paris, and Orchestre National de France, and one of the leading pianists of contemporary France, the " Poulenc's Piano Quintet is a super-ensemble ensemble that plays with top French orchestras such as the Orchestre Moragues, and the Poulenc Woodwind Quintet, which features Emmanuelle Strosset, one of France's leading contemporary pianists, who is also known as "the poet who plays the piano". This album features a wide range of Poulenc's masterpieces, from his first chamber masterpiece, the Trio, to woodwind ensemble versions of the French Suites (originally for piano solo, small orchestra, and cello/piano duet), in which Poulenc makes full use of the traditional French sound of the time.
