Philippe BOALON (Piano) *In a simple paper case The Piano Concerto was composed by Beethoven at the age of 13. This recording is based on the piano part that was left behind, and the score was completed and supplemented by Willy Hess of Switzerland. The performance of this work is a perfect example of Beethoven's fresh boyhood sensibility. The symphony was originally conceived as a counterpart to the Ninth, but the direction was changed to unify the two works to achieve a higher degree of perfection, so only a sketch of the symphony was left unfinished. Based on this sketch, Barry Cooper restored only one movement in 1988 and performed it with a revised score in 2012. The coupling of the two pieces, one from the juvenile period and the other from the later period, is not only of great documentary value but also enjoyable in terms of performance content.
