The 12 songs on "RELENTLESS" were co-written by Chrissy and James Walbourne, guitar hero of the Pretenders, as on the previous album. Chrissy explains the songwriting process as follows. We had developed a way of co-writing remotely, and we continued that on this album. This method is one that we have refined to an artistic level over the past few years. He comes up with things I would never have thought of, and I love surprises." The lead single from the album is "Let The Sun Comes In. The lead single from the album is "Let The Sun Comes In," which is filled with an optimistic tone and is in full Chrissie Hynde mode, making it one of the songs that fans have been waiting for. Chrissie Hynde herself says that the entire album, including the other songs, is filled with the same impulsiveness and attitude as her debut. As for the title, which means "relentless" or "merciless," Chrissy says, "I think the title is a play on the different meanings of the word. I enjoy learning about the different meanings of words and their etymologies. I also like the meaning of the word 'unrelenting intensity. That's the life of an artist.
