The fourth collection of orchestral works by Moravian composer Paul (Pavel) Vranitsky, who moved to Vienna at the age of 20 to pursue his career, and is regarded as one of the most important symphonic composers of the late 1790s in Vienna. He was also active as the director of the orchestra of the Vienna Court Theatre, and left many works for the stage. The ballet "Daughter of the Forest" is one of his most successful works. The story of a Polish prince on a hunting trip who meets a wild girl not only captivated the Viennese people with his lively music, but was also performed throughout Europe and is said to have influenced Beethoven and Weber. Also, "Pastorale et armand" is an elegant work written for Empress Marie Therese, who was a favorite of Vranitsky. Naxos Japan
