Description:
Matthias Kessler, born in 1997, Luca Staufferbach, born in 1996, and Fabian Ziegler, born in 1995, are members of Trio Corolles, a mallet percussion (keyboard percussion) ensemble of young players who studied at the Zurich University of the Arts They play two marimbas, three percussion instruments, and a percussion instrument. They play a variety of pieces on two marimbas, three vibraphones, and two glockenspiels, sometimes varying the number of instruments, with the goal of making marimba and vibraphone concerts as enjoyable as piano recitals in the future. This album features their own arrangements of modern French works. The pieces include "Dance of Death," which skillfully expresses the ringing of bones, the jazz-like "Scaramouche," the dizzying harmony of "Toccata," and the Impressionist masterpieces "Petite Suite" and "Couperin's Tomb," all of which offer a variety of rhythms and sounds.
