Description:
The Czech-born female composer Wenceslava Kaplerová, whose father was a music school principal and her mother a singing teacher, showed her talent from an early age and entered the Brno Conservatory at age 15. Five years later, in 1935, he composed his first orchestral work, the "Piano Concerto in D minor," as his graduation work. His orchestration of a "suite" for piano from the same period was essentially his second orchestral work (this album also includes the original piano piece). She then studied at the Prague Conservatory under Wenceslaw Nowak and Václav Tárlich, and in 1937 completed one of her most famous works, the "Sinfonietta in Military Style. It was premiered by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, which she herself conducted, and received international acclaim. In the same year, she received a scholarship from France to study at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. It was during this time that the song "Farewell and Handkerchief" was composed. In Paris, he studied in the classes of Charles Munch and Nadia Boulanger, and also received instruction from Bohuslav Martineau.Later, in April 1940, he married, but within two months he became ill and died at the young age of 25. The works she left behind during her short life are being reevaluated internationally in the 21st century. According to the label, this album contains all of the orchestral works she completed. From the piano concerto with its impressive late-Romantic gale-like opening to the partita with its clear modernist influence, we can see the change in style that shifted with the times. Naxos Japan
