Description:
The "24 Violins of the King" is a string ensemble of 24 musicians used for court dances and musical dramas in the 17th century French royal court. The 24 violins, including violas of various sizes and models used in the reign of Louis XIV, are restored and used here under the supervision of the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles. The composition of those days, including recorders and oboes, has been reproduced by the masters of the French old music world. The selection and interpretation of the pieces vividly revive 17th century France, while adding Renaissance works from the old traditions as needed. Naxos Japan
