Rossini BuffoIn 1810, the 18-year-old Rossini was a student at the Teatro San Moise in Venice when he performed "The Marriage Bill," a one-act farce that was performed at the Teatro San Moise while he was a student at the College of Music in Bologna, and was recognized for his natural ability. The composer became the darling of the age, and his "The Italian Lady of Algiers," "The Turks of Italy," "The Barber of Seville," and "Cenerentola" have become major works of opera buffa in the repertoire of opera houses around the world. In addition to these works, seven of Rossini's opera buffas, including the rare Buffa works "The Newspaper" and "A Terrible Misunderstanding," which have recently been performed as part of the "Rossini Renaissance," will be presented by the Italian company Dynamic in Pesaro's "Rossini Opera Festival" bringing together the best Rossini conductors and Rossini singers. The DVD box set includes live recordings from the "Rossini Opera Festival" in Pesaro, which brought together the best Rossini conductors and Rossini singers. Naxos Japan
