She was 25 years old at the time of recording. This is a collection of "humorous" piano pieces played by Austrian pianist Hannah Bachmann. The opening piece by Mozart is an eight-piece variation on the theme of the most famous aria from the then-popular song play "The Silly Gardener," "There's Nothing Lovelier Than a Woman." Mozart was living in poverty at the time, but there is no hint of this in the work, and the entire piece is filled with his typical naivete. Prokofiev's "Satire" is a suite of five two-minute pieces. The series of stimulating sounds, such as emphatic rhythms and snarling harmonic progressions, are fascinating. Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations" is a waltz theme by Diabelli, who was sent to Beethoven to write a variation, and Beethoven himself derided it as a "shoemaker's joint skin. Nevertheless, Beethoven, who had been indebted to Diabelli in various ways, decided to write all the variations himself, and he created a brilliant large-scale work based on the theme. It is a masterpiece that is already more than a joke. Bachmann's performance is truly varied, with the character of each of the 48 tracks being depicted in a different way. Naxos Japan
