[The Royal Ballet's "Swan Lake," the biggest story of 2018 with its first new production in 31 years! It has been 31 years since Anthony Dowell's production choreographed by Petipa/Ivanov. Artistic Director Kevin O'Hare chose 31-year-old choreographic prodigy Liam Scarlett and art director John McFarlane to create a new production for the members of the Royal Ballet, who have completely replaced the previous generation. The stage is gorgeous and the costume design is astonishing, with approximately 370 garments. With Rottwald, the queen's close associate, at the center of the production, the stage direction was designed to bring even more reality to the characters' emotions and to highlight the performers' expressions. While remaining within the framework of classical ballet, the production succeeded in drawing the audience into the story. Odette and Odile are performed by top prima ballerina Marianela Nunez and Siegfried by principal Vadim Muntagirov, allowing the audience to enjoy their graceful and dynamic performances.Also new to the cast are Prince Siegfried's two younger sisters, and again two principals, Akane Takada and Francesca Hayward, have been cast, along with Alexander Campbell as Benno, Siegfried's friend, to create a showcase for them.
