In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Offenbach's birth, three previously released piano works are now available in a boxed set. It includes all of Offenbach's little-known piano music, known as a composer of light operettas. The clear and beautiful waltzes and polkas reminiscent of the Strauss family are interspersed with the occasional familiar melody. For example, "Hell's Gallop" is the familiar can-can part of "Heaven and Hell. This is pianist Sollini's own arrangement of Offenbach's delightful melody, which he has turned into a brilliant concert piece with superb virtuosity. The program also includes a variety of other pieces from operettas arranged by the composer himself and by Eduard Strauss. This is an interesting collection of Offenbach's works that allows the listener to enjoy the atmosphere of 19th century Paris as well as the rich melodic beauty of Offenbach's music. Naxos Japan
