There have been several releases of Gaubert's complete flute works in the past, but this performance is on a completely different level from them. The performances by these two talented musicians transcend the mere category of "flute and piano" instruments, and bring the listener closer to the music itself, giving the listener a great emotional impact. (Yu Nishimura / from the liner notes) Philippe Gaubert is well-known to flute lovers for his sweet and beautiful melodies, similar to those of Debussy and Fauré. In 2023, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France finally began to release a large number of his autographs, including previously unpublished works, and this has resulted in an unprecedented collection of his complete flute works, including previously unpublished works. The "Fantasie," especially well known to flutists, has a forgotten first edition in addition to the presently known version, both of which are included here and are of great interest. The performance is by Seiichiro Edo, a flutist who studied under Patrick Gallois in France and is noted for his diverse activities while serving as a flutist in The College Opera House Orchestra. Kazunori Seo, who is also one of his teachers, oversees this project as pianist and producer.The booklet also includes a detailed explanation of Gaubert's works by Takayanagi Balliko, who has achieved great success in her research on Gaubert, and an essay by Edo Seiichiro on Gaubert and his historical background, a must-read for anyone interested in flute music.
