Description:
The Requiem by Verdi (1813-1901) was originally "a requiem to commemorate the anniversary of Manzoni's death," which he conceived in 1873 in memory of Alessandro Manzoni, a great writer whom he had admired since his youth. The germ of this piece, however, is the Liberame, which Verdi planned to compose a "Requiem by 13 Composers" at the time of Gioachino Rossini's death in 1868 (the idea was eventually abandoned for various reasons), and which was in his charge at the time of the It was successfully recycled in the Requiem for Manzoni, and was adopted for the same libellame, with some slight changes in form. However, the most popular part of this piece is, above all, "Dies Ile (The Day of Wrath)," with its avalanche of power, and thanks to this melody, it is called one of the "Three Great Requiems" along with works by Mozart and Fauré, and even today it has many opportunities to be performed. It is often performed in the same way as Mozart and Fauré's Requiem. The "Verdi's Requiem" was performed by the same soloists in Vienna in October 2013.
