This is the 11th installment of the Masterpiece Series, a collection of challenging works published by the Belgian sheet music publisher Hafabra Music. Featured is "Sinfonia Japanesque" by Yosuke Fukuda. It was composed in response to a request from the publisher for a work that evokes Japanese tradition. The first movement, "Warabeuta," utilizes Hanaichimonme, Anagata dokosa, Kagome kagome, Touriyanse, and Zuizu Zukkorobashi. The second movement, "Chinju no Mori" is based on the motifs of ancient Japanese religion, Shintoism, miko (shrine maiden) dances, and Gagaku (ancient court music), and is finished in a mystical manner. The third movement, "Matsuri (Festival)," was composed with hints of musical accompaniment and portable shrine call-outs, and all the movements are full of nostalgia. The work is a perfect representation of the "harmony" of Yosuke Fukuda, who is well versed in a wide range of genres from classical to Japanese music and is highly regarded for his style of weaving sounds of all shapes and sizes.The collection also includes six other works, including Tchaikovsky's "Italian Fantasy" and Arutyunian's "Trumpet Concerto," arranged by José Cins, who is highly regarded for his high quality transcriptions and arrangements.
