Description:
This historic live recording of Karajan and Gould's 1957 concert by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Herbert von Karajan at the Hochschule Saal in Berlin on May 24-26, 1957, features Hindemith's "Symphony 'Painter Matisse" by Hindemith, Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 3" in the first half, and Sibelius' "Symphony No. 5" in the second half. The piano soloist was the young Glenn Gould, who had already made his debut album "J.S. Bach: Goldberg Variations" and attracted much attention! Most of his discography is based on studio recordings, but several live discs exist, both official and unofficial. This recording of "Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3" has been known for a long time in the form of a private disc, and was released as an official disc by Sony Classical in 2008. It is also noteworthy that Sibelius' "Symphony No. 5" played in the latter half is included in the recording. Sony Music
