Description:
Arvid and Maris, father and son, compare their masterpieces! Both perform Shostakovich's "Revolution"! A set of 4 valuable CDs of the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra's performances in Japan at a bargain price. The set is packaged in a jewel case and packaged in a paper case as is. Both Shostakovich's No. 5 and Lohengrin's Prelude to Act 3 are performed by both musicians, so you can compare the performances! Be sure to get yours early! Father Arvid recorded the 1970 performance in which he substituted for Mravinsky when Mravinsky cancelled. While conducting a work that the Leningrad Philharmonic had almost completely memorized, Arvid's sense of balance between folk elements and textural depiction, as well as his crisp yet dignified expression, were superb. The combination of the precise sound construction and rich emotion cultivated through Mravinsky's assistance makes for an extremely appealing performance. The orchestra's high tension is extraordinary, especially in the coda of the last movement, and the tremendous horsepower that makes you want to call them invincible is astonishing. The son Mariss, again substituting for Mravinsky, gave a great performance of the new era in 1986, and in 1989, before the orchestra changed its name to the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, it gave a performance that was overwhelmingly Russian. The Mravinsky-trained Leni-Philharmonie's ironclad sound and Maris' beautiful, clear-sighted musicality collide head-on in a rare, sweaty performance! The performance has a special warmth, but the intense timpani and the magnificent Achille Landes are also tremendous. Both father and son are very convincing in their attention to detail in the score, and they have inherited the secret technique of adding their own color to the phrasing treatment to bring out the contrasts. This is a collection of masterful performances that will tickle the curiosity of classical music fans, who will want to discuss it in connection with the Kleiber father and son. King International
