Description:

A sincere debut album that entrusts the “heart” of this very moment. Memories shift and change form, like rippling water. This debut album by pianist Mayu Takeuchi—who, after studying in Germany, has expanded her activities both domestically and internationally—takes the word “Herzlich” (from the heart) as its guiding principle, gazing into the depths of “life” that dwell within the music of Liszt and Schubert. From overflowing longing, through intense shadows, to a state of acceptance. With the hope that this album will gently accompany the listener’s daily life and become a source of warmth that affirms those moments. Here lies a sound that embodies the “heart” of this very moment, with every note imbued with deep emotion. Based in Japan and Europe, she pursues an international career as a soloist and chamber musician. At the same time, she is actively engaged in outreach activities across a wide range of settings, including educational institutions, support facilities, and public venues. She began her musical education at the age of three and studied at programs such as the Yamaha Master Class Performance Research Course. After graduating from the Music Department of Toho Girls’ High School and Toho Gakuen University, she moved to Germany. In 2023, she completed her master’s degree at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. Her professional career began in earnest with a solo recital at the age of 20. To date, she has performed recitals throughout Europe, including in Munich and Hamburg, Germany, and Vienna, Austria. In Japan, she has appeared frequently as a soloist and is highly trusted by many collaborators as an ensemble pianist. In competitions, she has won numerous first prizes and awards both domestically and internationally, including First Prize (unanimous decision) at the Paris International Music Competition, Second Prize at the Vienna International Classical Piano Competition, First Prize and the Chairman’s Award at the Changjiang Cup International Music Competition, the top prize at the Chiba Music Competition, and First Prize in the chamber music category at the Burghardt International Music Competition. In 2024, she was awarded the 23rd Chiba City Arts and Culture Newcomer Award by her hometown of Chiba City. She has studied piano under Masako Shirai, Asako Maezawa, Yoko Miyazaki, Haruhi Hata, Keiko Takeuchi, Hisako Motomura, Ralf Nattkemper, Mariya Yankova, and Shinji Ohno. Furthermore, since her university days, she has been recommended to participate in music festivals in Japan and international music academies across Europe, where she has continued to hone her skills.
