The latest album "SOLID GOLD," featuring superb guests such as Ziggy Marley, Shaggy, Mick Jones of The Clash, Santigold, Sly & Robbie, David Hines of Steel Pulse, etc., will be released on CD and analog from the famous Jamaican label, Trojan Records! U-ROY, the legendary Jamaican reggae DJ who sadly passed away in February of this year, boasted a recording career spanning over 40 years, was the "original DJ" who perfected the toasting technique in reggae, and as a true legend of the dancehall/reggae world, he has had a great influence not only on the scene but also on many artists. SOLID GOLD" was originally scheduled to be released in time for his world tour in 2020. However, due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus, both the world tour and the release of this album had to be postponed.Unfortunately, in 2021, the album that was to be his latest work became his last work. Since it was to be released in conjunction with his world tour, "SOLID GOLD" featured a number of superb artists, all of whom were influenced by and respected him. Of course, all of them were influenced by him and respected him. Among them are Ziggy Marley, Shaggy, Mick Jones of The Clash, Santigold, Sly & Robbie, David Hines of Steel Pulse, Big Youth, Torus Riley, Jessi Royal, Richie Spice, The Scientists, and many more. This guest lineup is a testament to U-ROY's influence on the music industry. The first single from the album is "Man Next Dorr" featuring Santigold.This reggae standard, written by John Holt and released as a single in 1968 by The Paragons, was sampled by U-ROY on one of his 1982 DJ albums, PEACE AND LOVE IN THE GHETTO, and is included here in a new form. The music video for the song also features footage of the recording session at Trojan Studios in Jamaica in 2018, said to be U-ROY's last recording session. The other preceding track, "Wake The Town," was released last year. In 2007, U-Roy was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Government of Jamaica for his outstanding contribution to Jamaican music. This sumptuous final album is a reminder of the great musical legacy and influence that U-ROY has left behind.This is a memorial work released by Trojan Records, a renowned Jamaican music label.
