Bill Evans (Saxophone)

Description:

Bill Evans with the WDR Big Band at its best! Three years after their first performance together in 2008, which was recorded as "Vans Joint," the band has been further strengthened by the addition of arranger Michael Abene and a strong rhythm section including Zawinul Syndicate member Etienne Mbape Wolfgang Haffner. In February 2011, Bill Evans (Sax) and WDR (Southwest German Radio), one of the leading big bands in the jazz world, gave the hottest performance ever! Born in 1958 and raised in Chicago, Bill Evans was part of Miles Davis' group when he returned in 1981 and stayed with the group for four years. This is the second time he has performed with the WDR Big Band. This is the second time he has performed with the WDR Big Band. The first time was in February 2008, and the performance was recorded as "Vans Joi nt".The second time they have played together, the big band performance is even stronger! Bill Evans has said that Abene's arrangements "always improve and enhance my songs," and the synergy between the melody maker Bill Evans up front and the big band goes beyond mere collaboration. There is a synergy effect. The enthusiasm of the day was evident in the opening. The drummer was Wolfgang Haffner, one of Germany's leading drummers, and Etienne Mbape from Cameroon, who was also a member of the Zawinul Syndicate, on bass, bringing the groove to a peak! Bill Evans seems to have been greatly inspired by the horn section on this track. The solo, which is backed only by the bass and drums, is a nice touch to the sometimes light and pop image of the band. And the impact of the first song symbolizes everything about the day.The groove continues uninterrupted until the very last moment. Paul Shigihara's guitar, funky Hammond, muted trumpet with a hint of Miles Davis, etc.... A sound updated for the 2010s. Stylish and modern arrangements, outstanding solos by each of the musicians, and the enthusiasm of the day will make the audience at the show, and anyone who listens to this LP, burn with excitement!
