Description:
Born in Moscow in 1937, Serov began piano and violin lessons at the age of 6. After graduating from the Moscow Conservatory in 1958, Serov continued his studies in composition and performance at the Kiev Conservatory and in Leningrad, where he became assistant to Evgeni Mravinsky and performed with the Leningrad He performed with the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, he has worked with numerous orchestras in Russia and elsewhere, including the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra from 1974 to 1985, the Odense Symphony Orchestra from 1991 to 1996, and the Saratov Philharmonic Orchestra from 1995 to 2003. He has also made many recordings. This recording, made in 1993 at the age of 56, is considered to be one of his best. The booklet includes a Japanese commentary. Naxos Japan
